The Machine Error // AKA: Ghost in the Machine
Every sport plays on more than one field. There's the field you can see: the grass, the court, the ice. And underneath it, mostly invisible, there's a second field made of wires, sensors, code, and clocks. That second field is supposed to be silent. It exists to record what happened, not to change it.
Most days, it does its job. A sensor buzzes when the puck crosses the line. A clock counts down and nobody thinks about it twice. The machine behind the machine does its work and disappears.
